 Emergency Behavioral Health Services                       print

The current Emergency Behavioral Health Services are managed by Region 6 Behavioral Healthcare and consist of seven components.

 ■ Short-term Inpatient Services are provided by Douglas County Community Mental Health Center (DCCMHC) and Alegent Health. This hospitalization is for evaluation, stabilization and serves as a safe environment for Board committed individuals.

 ■ Sub Acute Inpatient Services are provided by The Region Six Recovery Center operated by Telecare Inc.  This 16-bed Sub Acute Inpatient program exists to stabilize the psychiatric symptoms that prevent consumers from being successful in a less restrictive environment; discharge the consumer to a community setting; and prevent hospital admissions.  The Region Six Recovery Center program is approximately 30 days and helps people build skills, reclaim hope, and feel supported on their journeys of recovery.  It offers a new clinical approach and embraces the recovery philosophy at all levels and in all interactions.

 ■ Transitional Residential Program operated by the The Salvation Army is a 10 bed program intended to serve persons who are in a psychiatric crisis, do not require hospitalization, yet need supervised residential support for a period of 7 to 28 days.  The services provided while at the unit are case management, referrals to community agencies, individual and group activities, and social and recreational activities.

 ■ Emergency Community Support is provided by the Salvation Army.  It provides short-term case management and support for persons exiting a hospital, the Transitional Residential Program, The Spring Center, Region six Recovery Center or the Urgent Care outpatient services.  Emergency Community Support can also be used to assist individuals in the community who may be at risk for a psychiatric crisis.

 ■ Detoxification Services are provided by Campus for Hope, which is operated by Catholic Charities.  Currently this facility has 2 beds for emergency protective custody (mentally ill dangerous) and 10 beds for civil protective custody (public intoxication).  The length of stay is determined by the client’s Blood Alcohol Level, but no longer than 24 hours.  Clients have a mental health evaluation (at Campus for Hope) once they are sober, but within 24 hours.  The program also has a social setting detoxification service, which can serve 22 individuals.  This program provides a safe environment for those who are in need of non-medical detoxification.

 ■ Urgent Care Outpatient service is offered through Lutheran Family Service.  This service offers a timely and responsive mental health assessment and intervention to non-insured adults in crisis. Urgent Care services are offered in each of the five counties and is available 24 hours per day.

 ■ The Spring Center is a 10-bed residential unit that can care for people who are in crisis but are not BOMH committed.  The program also has the ability to offer respite beds which will temporarily care for those with a psychiatric illness with an estimated length of stay of 2-3 days.  In addition, it provides two telephone help lines, one available to the general public and one available to law enforcement and emergency hospital personnel.

24-hour help line is 1-866-734-8888
