How can I stay at a healthy weight? Overweight and obesity are fast becoming America's major public health crisis. Both adults and children are at risk for the health consequences of too much weight. In just 30 years, overweight has more than doubled among children ages 2-5 and adolescents ages 12-19, and more than tripled among youth ages 6-11. This also has directly contributed to the dramatic increase of Type 2 diabetes in children as well as other health problems such as high blood pressure and the metabolic syndrome.
