TAD was founded in 1997 by a small yet powerful group of concerned citizens that wanted to educate youth and the public about the harmful effects of tobacco. TAD has sponsored family activities, conducted compliance checks of local tobacco retailers and served as a resource center for tobacco prevention and education. TAD is funded by the Tobacco Free Nebraska Program which was established from the funding that was received through the Master Settlement Agreement.

The Mission of TAD is to inform the public about the death and disease caused by tobacco and secondhand smoke and serve as a resource for stronger standards that protect children from tobacco addiction and all of Cass County from breathing toxic tobacco smoke.

Goals

  • Prevent kids from ever starting to use tobacco.
  • Abolish secondhand smoke in workplaces (including restaurants), daycares and public buildings.
  • Advocate for tougher standards regarding tobacco issues.
  • Establish Cass County as a leader in the tobacco prevention and control movement.
