DESCRIPTION:The Consumer Advisory Team (CAT) serves as an advisory committee to the Regional Consumer Specialist (RCS) at Region 6 Behavioral Healthcare. The CAT member’s role includes providing input and advice in matters regarding service provision or development\, system coordination and performance\, and specific functions of the RCS. The member engages the RCS in ongoing dialogue focused on his or her experiences\, impressions\, and expectations of the public behavioral health system. These meetings are open to the public and we encourage anyone who’s interested to attend or contact the RCS for more information. \nNo meetings on federal holidays or inclement weather. \nCAT Application \nCAT Bylaws

The Peer Support Group is open to young adults\, ages 16-26\, who have experienced behavioral health challenges. The group is available to residents of Cass\, Dodge\, Douglas\, Sarpy\, or Washington counties. DESCRIPTION:Dates: June 17\, 18 & 19\, 2019 \n\n\n\nTime: 8:30am - 4:00pm \n\n\n\nWhere: Goodwill Industries Training Center 4805 N 72nd Street Omaha NE 68134 \n\n\n\nCost: $150 \n\n\n\nRegistration: https://cbtforsuicideprevention6-2019.eventbrite.com \n\n\n\nDescription: This three-day experiential workshop will provide an overview of evidence-based cognitive behavioral strategies that can be utilized for the treatment of patients with depression and suicidal ideation/behavior. The course will review fundamentals of Aaron Beck’s cognitive behavioral model as applied to both depression and suicide\, cognitive behavioral strategies for structuring sessions\, including setting a collaborative agenda\, and under-standing transdiagnostic outpatient protocols in Cognitive Therapy for Suicide Prevention (CT-SP).Specific techniques central to this approach will be emphasized\, including assessing and engaging treatment motivation\, conducting ongoing suicide risk assessment\, supporting patients in telling their suicide narrative\, developing a safety plan\, building skills such as cognitive restructuring\, distress tolerance\, and problem solving\, instilling hope\, and preventing relapse. Attendees will practice learned strategies through demonstrations and break-out sessions.This training meets the requirements for 18 CEUs for Nebraska and Iowa licensed mental health practitioners\, social workers\, and professional counselors. DESCRIPTION:Date: Tuesday\, June 18th\, 2019 \n\n\n\nTime: 4:30 - 6:00 p.m. \n\n\n\nLocation: Region 6 Behavioral Healthcare 4715 S 132nd St Omaha\, NE 68137 \n\n\n\nRegion 6 Behavioral Healthcare presents the class Meditation & Mindfulness: An Introduction to Peace of Mind!  Participants will learn about the history of meditation\, explore the neuroscience and physiology behind mindfulness\, and learn ways to incorporate mindfulness into daily life!  This course will be presented by Amy McCae\, Certified Life Coach and Mindfulness Meditation Teacher. \n\n\n\nRegistration is required for this class. A permission slip/waiver\, signed by a legal guardian\, is also required for those under age 18 prior to attending Region 6 classes (attached).
