PEER AND RECOVERY INITIATIVES

Centering Lived Experiences

Recovery is personal, but no one has to navigate it alone.

Region 6 Behavioral Healthcare believes that individuals with lived experience play a vital role in shaping behavioral health services, strengthening communities and supporting recovery for others. Through dedicated advocacy, engagement and peer-informed initiatives, we work to ensure everyone’s voice is heard.

Every recovery journey is unique. Founded by peer support specialists Jen and Scott Hazuka in 2020, Recovery Champions of Nebraska creates opportunities for people with lived experience of mental health and substance use challenges to share their stories and help break down stigma.

Through peer-led conversations, educational videos and engagement with the community, Recovery Champions of Nebraska highlights the power of connecting with other people who understand what recovery can look and feel like. Sharing lived experiences can help others feel validated, understood and less alone while celebrating the strength and resilience of people living in recovery.

Recovery looks different for everyone. Region 6 works alongside community partners and network providers to support individuals on their journey.

People with lived experience offer valuable insight that can help improve behavioral health services and strengthen support systems for others.
